Reflection Exercise - Rating your own Schema Tape

Final Reflection Exercise: Rating your own Schema Tape

Bringing it all together - It is an uncomfortable truth. We all know that getting feedback on our clinical work can be daunting. But we also know that is essential in elevating our work to the level required to truly help our clients AND feel confident and fluent in our work.

Within this "Inside the Room" Video Series you have had multiple examples now of how schema therapy might look across multiple therapists, patients, techniques, and mode presentations. You have also had the benefit now of seeing how these sessions might be rated by an accredited ISST Schema Therapy Supervisor. One of the first steps you can now make to bridge the gap in confidence is to rate one of your own Schema sessions. Of course, make sure you have received the relevant consent, and the start taping your sessions. Select a session that you thought might be OK and then have a go at rating your own tape using the attached Schema Therapy Competency Scale (STCS). Remember, overall mean ratings are required at 4.0 out of 6 for the standard accreditation, and a 4.5 or above for the advanced accreditation.

Critiquing our own work can be a great way to get feedback before taking the final step of submitting your work to a supervisor. Once you think your work is hitting most of the criteria - it is time to submit for supervisor feedback. Let's do it!
